General Business Description |
Made possible by a unique collaboration between the Welsh Assembly Government, IBM and Swansea University, the Institute of Life Science (ILS) is the research arm of Swansea University's School of Medicine.
Strategically located between the School and Singleton Hospital, part of the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust, it is dedicated to finding new solutions to old problems in medicine.
Born out of the success of the School of Medicine, we have created an innovative centre where disciplines from fields including medicine, engineering, computing, physics and bioscience meet. Where these disciplines intersect, leading discoveries and opportunities are being made.
Our mission is simple: to develop a sustainable, interdisciplinary venture that advances medical science through research and innovation; and to translate those advances into benefits for human health and the knowledge economy. |
Cooperation Desired |
Research collaborations being undertaken at the Institute of Life Science (ILS) is divided into two areas of expertise – laboratory-based biomedical research and public health, population sciences and health services research.
Many of the ILS's research groups are currently looking to collaborate, both with other research groups and with industrial or commercial partners.
